When I first started shooting weddings, I linked up with a great photographer named Zen Todd and his wife Lenore and was their second shooter for a lot of weddings. I truly appreciate everything he has taught me, and all the information he has given me over the years.
His son, Hunter, was diagnosed with ACL Leukemia when he was only 14 months old. I guess you never know what it is like for children (or Parents) to go through the trials and tribulations of cancer until you experience it for yourself. It is heartbreaking, and an unbelievable roller-coaster of emotion. He had it, beat it, got it again, beat it again, got it again, and has at the moment, beat it with a bone marrow transfer. This little guy has gone through so much, and has spent more time of his life in the hospital than out.
One of the amazing things is just how much of this experience is documented on the Healing Hunter blog. Mom and Dad have poured their hearts out and put it all on the table. I am sure it is therapeutic for them, but for the rest of us (especially us parents), it is an amazing insight into a world we all hope to never have to visit. Take a look at the blog. And if you feel compelled, DONATE. If not to Hunter, than to an organization such as the Starlight Foundation here in Vancouver. It really does make a difference.
